Followup: Today I spoke to the owner of affluence.org and after hearing what they had to say and their plans for it, I think this could be pretty cool. If things go as planned I think this could be a really useful tool for affluent individuals. Rumor is so far they have a user worth approximately $500million!! I think their business model of verifying affluent users needs a little work, but its sounds like they are committed to making this a quality site. Check it yout, if you don’t qualify, well then work harder
Think of LinkedIn, then think of LinkedIn just for rich people and you have Affluence.org. I was invited by one of my friends or rather a an acquaintance in the internet industry. If I wasn’t being invited by them I wouldn’t have even checked it out. I just joined today and filled out my profile, but apparently I have to wait and see if they approve my account, it’s currently awaiting review. They do say that I can 100% complete my profile, invite 5 friends or send in my tax return to prove my income which I think is pretty absurd. I think they are a little new to be requesting that kind of info especially from millionaires and billionaires. It’s too soon to tell if this site is going to be good or not, maybe once they approve my account I can check it out and see whats up. I think the billionaire idea is a little absurd, I highly doubt a billionaire needs to be on affluence.org, but nice try.
What confuses me is to qualify you can have a net worth of $3million OR annual income of $300k OR invite 5 friends that join. I think that’s funny that you can just invite other people and you are suddenly qualified as affluent. I think the only real way to qualify people would be based upon their tax statements and 90% of the people won’t provide those, so their business model is a little flawed.

Being well connected is kind of like being affluent…
Talk at you soon.
