The amount of people I was following on Twitter was starting to get a little out of hand. I decided it was time to unfollow some people but i didnt want to stop following the people that were still following me. I was able to find a site on Google that offers this exact service for free call Huitter. Huitter stops following only those people that are not following you.
Huitter.com is a pretty basic site, but it gets the job done. They have a feature called mutuality which is the one you want to use. You do have to enter your Twitter username and password which does have some risks but this isn’t exaclty banking information so I went ahead and did it. They also say that they don’t keep your login credentials.
When you enter your Twitter login and password and click “Go!” depending upon how many friends it has to remove it may take a while. I removed about 200 and it took about 2.5 minutes. To date they say they have unfollowed 2311353 followings. Thats alot! The only downside I could think of is that you can’t specify people to follow even if they aren’t following you. They should add that feature for sure.

There’s a better site that you could use for this. It actually shows using small little arrows for who is following you and who is not following you in return. The tool I use is Twitter Karma, the url is a bit obtuse but it works wonders.
